  The Weekly Standard
Funded by Rupert Murdoch (owner of Fox News). Editor: William Kristol, son of Irving Kristol, the neconservative "godfather."

The most consistent advocate of the Iraq War starting in 1998, and the leading neocon magazine, though not nearly as intellectual as Commentary.

A senior writer, Matt Labash, has candidly explained the magazines strategy when asked why the Weekly Standard and Fox News have become more popular.

Because they feed the rage. ... We come with a strong point of view. ... We've created this cottage industry in which it pays to be un-objective. It pays to be subjective as much as possible. It's a great way to have your cake and eat it too. Criticize other people for not being objective. Be as subjective as you want. It's a great little racket. I'm glad we found it actually.

"If we don't stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road. And I'm going to prevent that." --First Bush v. Gore Presidential Debate.

Commentary Magazine, published by the American Jewish Committee,
is editorially independent of the Committe and often takes very different views from the majority of that organization's membership. But the magazine is considered a leading voice of the American Jewish community and the neoconservative movement. This is probably a key reason for the misperception that "neocon" means "Jewish" as Kagan is fond of saying.

The founders of neo-conservatism, Irving Kristol and Norman Podhoretz have both served as editors of Commentary Magazine, which is the leading neocon magazine for intellectuals.

It has long advocated the War with Iraq, and after the Abu Ghraib scandal published a justification of torture and a call for its legalization.
