Woke: Your Ideas are Socially Constructed
Woke ideology holds that all knowledge is socially constructed, which means that what you believe is not of your own choosing. You believe what the capitalist system wants you to believe and most of that is not true.
They take this to extremes. Judith Butler, a godmother of queer theory. tells us that sex roles are only “performative” and have no biological basis. If you believe you’re a woman and act the part of a woman, it’s not because you are biologically a woman. It’s because capitalist society has taught you to perform that way.
Butler, is a lesbian, and so this belief may provide her with some comfort. You can read her simplest explanation of this nonsense here.
Postmodern “Philosophy”
Ironically this “socially constructed” idea comes from white European males, sources that the woke do not trust. They brought postmodernism to the U.S. in the early 1970s, about the time that Critical Race Theory — now taught in the federal government’s racial sensitivity programs — was developed.
Weird as it may seem, this part of postmodernism has roots in Antonio Gramsci’s neo-Marxism and in the German Frankfurt School of neo-Marxism. Gramsci co-founded the Italian Communist Party in 1921. But he’s very popular with woke university students today.
