History of Neocon Push to Iraq War

Israeli Def. Minister: US attack on Iraq will help Israel
Aug. 2002
Gideon Ezra, Israel's Deputy Interior Minister
"The more aggressive the attack is, the more it will help Israel against the Palestinians. The understanding would be that what is good to do in Iraq, is also good for here." (more)

WMD Concern Made Sense to Right-Wing Israelis
Sep. 12, 2002
Netanyahu, former Israeli Prime Minister

May 21, 2004 General Zini Says Neocons' goal: 'Strengthen ... Israel'
Zinni is talking about ... "the neo-conservatives" who saw the invasion of Iraq as a way to stabilize American interests in the region and strengthen the position of Israel. ... “everybody I talk to in Washington has known and fully knows what their agenda was and what they were trying to do,” - more
CBS News:  Gen. Zinni: 'They've Screwed Up'

Who is General Anthony Zini?    (see also General Zini.)
When Zinni went public the following Sunday. ... he had something at least as powerful: credibility. A genuine Pentagon star, Zinni is a former chief of the U.S. Central Command, in charge of all American troops in the Middle East. He also served as President Bush's special Middle East envoy in the winter of 2002 and 2003, overseeing Israeli-Palestinian diplomacy during the months that Washington was preparing for war in Iraq. He's not merely theorizing about how American policy was formed; he was there.
Lessons of the War, Victor Hanson, Commentary Magazine, June 2003
This is Hanson's first conclusion: "Certainly the geopolitical calculus in the Middle
East has visibly improved, including for Israel. We have 100,000 soldiers positioned on the border with Iran—a country now surrounded by reform governments in Afghanistan and Iraq."  There is no conclusion regarding saftey from WMD.
