   1997.  PNAC:
Project for the New American Century

PNAC Was founded June 3, 1997 by William Kristol and Robert Kagan. Kristol is the son of Irving Kristol, the "godfather" of neoconservatism. William is editor of "The The Weekly Standard," the money-losing neoconservative magazine perpetually bankrolled by Rupert Murdoch, and an editor of "The Neoconservative Imagination."

PNAC is the neoconservative foreign-policy lobby.

Its first public action was the publication of an open letter to President Clinton advocating use of the military to remove Saddam from power. (See 1998)

Of the 25 signers of the "Statement of Principles," the following became part of the Bush administration:

Dick Cheney
Donald Rumsfeld
Paul Wolfowitz
I. Lewis Libby
Elliott Abrams

Other members of the Administration can be found signing PNAC documents:

Richard L. Armitage, Deputy Secretary of State
John Bolton
Richard Perle
James Woolsey, member, Defense Policy Advisory Board
