Denials that Iraq Threat Was Imminent

Denying they said the Iraqi threat was imminent means the Administration knows it was not imminent.  Otherwise, why deny being right?!

"I think some in the media have chosen to use the word "imminent." Those were not words we used." Administration spokesman, 1/27/04.

Rumsfeld: (One year after invasion) "You and a few other critics are the only people I've heard use the phrase 'immediate threat.' I didn't. The president didn't.

Rumsfeld: (Six months before invasion) "No terrorist state poses a greater or more immediate threat to the security of our people and the stability of the world and the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq."

Their flip-flop is unimportant. What matters is that they are admitting the threat was not imminent. There was no need to rush to war without our allies and suffer 95% of the losses and costs by ourselves. Iraq was not connected to 9/11 and they knew it.

Had they not convinced America the threat was imminent, America probably would not have gone to war.
