Pension experts have come up with 4 new ways to generate more retirement income for American workers. Here are their proposals (pdf) . They include: 1. a plan that looks like a savings plan but has some of the protections of a pension plan; 2. a simplified pension plan for basic retirement income; 3. a government-run pooled savings plan; and 4. a "Model T" savings plan that the financial services industry, not employers, would run.
