Slipping Away Rights
"...actions with harsh effects on women are occurring almost completely “under the radar,” out of the public eye – like abolishing the government’s Equal Pay Initiative, “archiving” its guidelines on sexual harassment in schools, undermining medical research and distorting scientific information to further an anti-abortion and anti-family planning agenda, and placing individuals hostile to women’s interests on expert advisory committees."

Treaty for the  Rights of Women
• The Treaty for the Rights of Women is often described as an international "Bill of Rights" for women.

• As of May, 2004, 177 countries have ratified the treaty. The U.S. has not. It has been signed by both Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, rejected by Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Again recommended for ratification by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2002, the treaty has not been allowed to reach the Senate floor.

• The protection of children provided in the U.S. is far below the international standards. The United States is one of the only two countries in the world that have not ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
