In an effort to counteract recent legal threats to civil rights protections, the FAIRNESS Act was introduced to Congress on February 11, 2004. Also known as the Civil Rights Act of 2004, the proposed legislation would counter recent Supreme Court rulings in the following areas:
Discrimination in Publicly-Funded Programs
Age Discrimination
The Right to Sue for Discrimination
Equal Pay for Equal Work
Enforcement of Labor Standards
