Military Plans to Call Up Soldiers who Left Service; NYTimes
A rarely used wartime program allows the army to recall soldiers with less than eight years service who have left the military and did not join the reserves. Pentagon officials said Tuesday that 5,600 former soldiers, Individual Ready Reserves, were going to be called up for yearlong tours.
